I stopped by Smith's this morning to get some clarification on the HOTcereal sale and this is what I found:

There are tons of participating cereals. Most GM cereals are triggering the $5 Smith's gift card. However not all cereal is priced at $2.50. The cereal that is 4 for $10 is plain Cheerios, Honey Nut Cheerios, Chex- all varieties, plain Total cereal, and Honey Grahams. Other cereals are priced at $2.99- $3.99.

You can roll the $5 Smith's gift cards! They load immediately, so there's no waiting. I tested this out myself- it worked perfectly!

200 Bonus Points is now per card, not per transaction! You get 200 bonus points EACH TRANSACTION! Wow!!! I did 3 transactions this morning, two for me, rolling the $5 gift card, then one for my grandmother…and I got a total of 600 bonus points!

If you have an e-coupon loaded to your card, that coupon will be used first, whether you want it to be used first or not! It will come off automatically. If you have a paper coupon for the same item, the coupon will beep and you won't be able to use it! {We can't stack the paper coupon and e-coupon and now the registers enforce this, so plan accordingly!}

Nestle Morsels Catalina offer:

  • Buy 3 bags, receive a $2 Smith's voucher, valid on your next order
  • Buy 4 bags, receive a $3 Smith's voucher, valid on your next order
  • Expires 4/17!
Try this scenario, factoring in a catalina for the Nestle morsels:

Buy four $2.50 GM cereals
Buy four Nestle Tollhouse Morsels, $2 each

  • Subtotal: $18
  • Use four .75/1 cereal coupons
  • Use two $1.50/2 Nestle coupons from 4/10 SS
  • Pay $12 OOP
  • Receive a $3 catalina for the Nestle morsels!
  • Receive a $5 Smith's gift card
  • Final price: $4 for all 8 items, or .50 per item!!

Roll this transaction into another identical transaction and you'll pay $4 OOP and receive another $5 gift card and $3 catalina!!

The gift cards weren't rolling this morning in St. George. Also none of my e-coupons worked, even though I loaded them an hour beforehand. I had to use paper coupons instead. Totally fine, but I think there might be some glitches with the system down here this morning.

I just did the deal and got a bizillion boxes of cereal. Our store here in rock springs had a glich in there bonus points, they are giving 200 points per item bought, which they are fixing tomo, but I was able to get almost 2200 points today! I was stoked!!!!

  3. Renee says:

The best thing about this is getting 200 points for each transaction? Is that for real? So do you know if we will get that on every single transaction this week??? If so, I will be doing as many transactions as I can so I can build up points to last for the next several fill-ups! Gas is a killer!

  4. Utah Deal Diva says:

Renee- I did 3 transactions this morning and got 600 bonus point- 200 per transaction! I'm not sure if it's a glitch or what- the employees I talked with said it was correct! 🙂

The $5 is given as an actual Smith's gift card. They look different than the normal gift cards though.

  5. Jessica says:

The Smith's on Redwood Road and 7000s Does NOT allow you to roll the $5 gift cards and only let me do ONE transaction for ONE gift card, and said "you have to come back tomorrow if you want to spend it and if you want more cereal for another gift card."

  6. Julene says:

My Smiths made me wait 15 minutes to use the gift cards. I had to suspend my order and wait and then pay for my last transaction. I guess it depends on the store and who is managing.

  7. Kim says:

My giftcards rolled and I received 200 points per transaction. Just a hint if you'd rather use your paper coupons: don't scan your rewards card until after your coupons have been scanned. Just give the checker a heads up. It with worked just fine for me. I'm here in Las Vegas.

  8. Becky says:

I really hope that the 200 points per transaction isn't a glitch. I can't go until Friday or Saturday. Hopefully they will still have some cereal left as well. 🙂 I need the points more than the cereal though. Gas is SO expensive!!!

I also went to the Smith's on Redwood & 70th (first) this morning and they only let me do 1 transaction. It says in the ad 1 per visit — not per transaction. So they are "following the rules." I was only going to do 3 transactions so nothing huge but I was rather bugged. So I went to the one on 90th & 40th South and bought another round of 4 but was afraid they'd do the same thing so didn't bother trying to grab extras because I was in a hurry. Now I'm afraid everything is going to be gone by all the stuff I've been reading everywhere that people have bought countless boxes & rolled them onto their gift cards. Oh well!

Smiths in West Jordan at 4800 w and 9000 S allowed me to use the gift cards right away in successive transactions, however, they did not show the Honey Nut Cheerios as part of the 4/$10 sale. Maybe I'll check back tomorrow to see if they've updated it.

  11. Tedi says:

Did Smith's change their coupon policy regarding the manufacturers and e-coupons? I haven't been to try this deal out, but will try tomorrow morning at Redwood and SR-73/Lehi Main.

  12. Lanes says:

Went to Smith's tonight and did 3 different transactions and only received 200 points on the first transaction. So it must have been a glitch in the system.

  13. Rachelle says:

Did this yesterday at the Smith's in Vernal. I did 5 transactions and they let me use the gift certificates right away with no problems. BUT, I did not get 200 bonus points per transaction. I got them for the first one only. That made me sad. 🙁 Ah well, the rest of it worked!

  14. Debbie says:

We were told by the manager at our Smiths (Saratoga Springs) that the bonus points were a fluke and would be taken away soon, leaving just the original 200. They did mention though, that if we hurried and got gas and used the points then the points could be used.

  15. Cindy says:

The Layton store didn't have the regular Cheerios on the 4 for $10! So bummed! I only got 200 bonus points, too. But they did let me roll the gift cards immediately.

  16. Christy says:

Thank you for posting which cereals are on sale. I went and was able to do 4 transactions. I only got 200 bonus points on the first transaction. The cashier would not let me roll my gift cards, so I figured I would just save them for the next time.

  17. Meg says:

In the south ogden smiths the only chex they have on sale for 4/$10 is the wheat and hunney nut. Im trying to find another smiths close by that has the rice chex, anybody know of any?

  18. Crystal says:

I am very confused! Did Smiths change their coupon policy? I have NEVER had a problem and today they refused to allow me to use 2 of the same coupon. For example, I bought 4 packs of nestle chocolate chips. I had two coupons for the $1.50/2. They refused to let me use the second coupon even though they are from two different papers. Also, they refused to let me use 2 different printed coupons for the chex mix. I am very irritated and very confused! Anyone else have this problem??

  19. Araaidan says:

Crystal-I've never run into having any issues with using multiples at Smiths. I've used lots of multiples in the same transaction with this cereal deal with no problems at all! I'd talked to the manager at your store and see what's up… Good luck! Don't forget to have your Smiths coupon policy in hand.
