Rowley's Red Barn in Santaquin is once again offering their Bargain Box membership program. Each Bargain Box will contain about 20-lbs of fresh fruit available for pick-up each week, starting 9/7. You pay a 10-week membership fee of $120 up front, then $5 when you pick up your box. This works out to be $17 per box, or about .85 per pound for amazing fruit! You can pick up your box during store hours anytime Friday or Saturday- so no rush to be there at a certain time.
Each week you can expect an assortment of fruit such as apples, pears, peaches, raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, grapes, cantaloupe, watermelon, tomatoes and much more!
I participated in this program last year and it was fabulous! The produce was wonderful and each week there was a different assortment of fruits and vegetables. One of the things I liked best about this program is that the items in the box each week were items that I actually recognized and that my family consumes regularly. It seems like there are a lot of other produce programs that put strange food items in that no one has ever heard of and that people don't know what to do with! We got tons of apples, peaches and potatoes, but there was always a variety of other things too which was so fun every week!
You can read more about the Red Barn Bargain Box here. Registration is only open until September 4th and the first box is available September 7th. This year, they have added a refer a friend feature. If you bring a friend with you when you sign up, you BOTH receive an extra $5 off the membership fee. That brings the produce down to just $.82/pound!
Also, this Saturday, September 1, The Red Barn is hosting a FREE class on Pressure Canning. The class will cover pressure canning basics as well as vegetables and meats. This is good for beginners and pros alike and would be perfect for those wanting to can the extra fruit from your Bargain Box! The class takes place at The Red Barn from 10-11 am and is taught by USU extension specialist Jana Darrington.
Please note that the winner MUST be able to pick up
the basket themselves in Santaquin on 9/7 or 9/8.
