Cleaning my microwave has always been and probably will always be a not-so-fun task, but I dreaded it even more before I learned a tip on how to clean it super fast years ago. And by the picture, you can see I still don’t clean it that often, but when I do, it doesn’t take me any time at all!

I’m sure most of you have seen this trick floating around pinterest and it really does work! I’ve put it to the test many times now, and I think it is definitely the best way to clean a microwave!

You just need two simple ingredients. Distilled vinegar and water. Fill a glass cup half way, with half vinegar, half water (seen in the picture). Don’t get too fussy about the size of the cup, I don’t think it matters much. Then, microwave it for two minutes. Grab a scrubbie sponge or a paper towel, get it wet, and then wipe. If the spots still aren’t coming off super easy, microwave the glass of water/vinegar for an additional minute. Remember, it will be very hot, so don’t burn yourself getting it out of the microwave.

Everything should come off super easy. The only thing that I had to scrub even more this particular time was the glass plate because it had caked-on oatmeal on it, but even that came off easier than it would have.

Voila! The perfect (and simple) way to clean your gross microwave without scrubbing or harsh chemicals. Go give it a try and let me know if it works for you too!

Every time I see this tip I have to caution people! It totally works but once I did it and the vinegar literally exploded everywhere and the door of my microwave even flew open. I happened to be standing near it (thank goodness none of my kids were) and got some pretty nasty burns on my neck and part of my face. I don’t know why it exploded, I did it just like I have before and just like all the tutorials say to. So just please be CAREFUL!!

Oh my gosh! That is awful. Thanks for the caution. I kind of get nervous, just because the water is getting so hot. How long did you microwave it for when that happened?!

I can’t remember but I think it was just a couple of minutes. But, now that I think about it, I think whatever tutorial I followed called for JUST vinegar, no water. Maybe that caused it??
