I was asked by a fellow Utah Deal Diva reader, Carli, to spread the word about a wonderful service project she has going. Earlier this year, her young son had health problems which led to heart surgery. She was so grateful to the time she spent in the Ronald McDonald house, and wants to give back. And she wants our help! For those of you that are not familiar with the Ronald McDonald house, it is a “home-away-from-home” for families so they can stay close by their hospitalized child at little or no cost. They are in need of blankets, toys, and household item donations. I think as couponers this is something we can help with! Many of the items needed are things that we all probably already have in our stockpiles. Here is her son’s story:

“My son, Finnegan Valentine, had heart surgery on January 20th, 2015 because he had a vascular ring (part of his aorta was wrapped around his trachea and esophogus and choking him and cutting off part of his airway). It was the scariest time of my life and it has almost been a year since surgery! I will be bringing up fleece blankets and plastic toys to kids at Primary Children’s to commemorate my son’s surgery. These types of things bring so much peace and love to familys in such times of struggle and hardship! I would love to have fellow couponers join and give some of their surplus couponing stockpile items to Ronald Mcdonald House (who aids in helping families and children up at Primary Childrens).”
So, will you join us in the fight to help others this Holiday Season?? What a wonderful way to give back!

Here are the items that can be donated and are needed most:

  • New Fleece Blankets
  • Brand New Plastic Toys
  • Induction pots and pans
  • Paper Towels
  • HE liquid laundry soap
  • Dryer sheets
  • Costco gift cards
  • Wood cleaner/polish
  • Sanitizing wipes (Clorox wipes)
  • Chapstick/lip balm
  • Kids cereal
  • Frozen dinners
  • Individual snack items
  • Lunch meat and cheese

Here is how you can donate:

  • Take the items directly to Carli (the one who is heading this project): Contact her by email at
  • Have your items picked up by Carli: She lives in the Ogden area and is willing to pick stuff up if you have a good amount and live fairly close to her.
  • Take them straight to the Ronald McDonald house: 935 E. South Temple, SLC, UT 84102

Carli has also set up a Facebook group in case you are wanting a good way to contact her. Go here to join that group.

I hope you all will find this a great way to bless other’s lives with your stockpiles. You guys are awesome and happy couponing!
